Wine Tasting at Barnsole Vineyard
From early May and throughout the summer until the end of September, visitors are welcome to drop-in for a free mini-tour and tasting of the still wines anytime between 10.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. They can open in the evenings, but by appointment only. A full one hour guided tour - with the winemaker - can be booked in advance and carries the modest fee of £11.00 per adult. The full tour includes an introductory sample of our sparkling wine (subject to availability), a talk about the history of wine, its arrival in England with the Romans and the current trends in the burgeoning English wine industry. They will show you the vineyard and the winery and finish with a tasting of the still wines that are available for sale.
Bekesbourne Stables is a small, friendly riding and livery yard less then a 10 minutes drive away. They provide quality, reliable horses for accompanied or unaccompanied hacking. Private/group lessons are for all ages and abilities. They are fully insured and a licensed establishment approved by Canterbury City Council. Very reasonable prices; from £20 each for two person lesson for 30 minutes, or £35 each for 60 minute lesson. Hacking is £30 each for 60 minutes,
90 min hack £40 each, 120 min hack £45 each. Their horses have been used for period displays including jousting. Beach rides are also available!

Kite Surfing Lessons
Kent kite surfing school is less then 30 minutes away in Whitstable, offering private tuition tailored to suit the student whether at beginner, intermediate or advanced level. The lessons are for 2.5 hours and cost £100. All lessons and coaching sessions are carried out by fully qualified and insured BKSA instructors. After each session you will receive a BKSA competency card which can be used to track your progress. If you reach independent rider status your card can be used to show competency and hire kit at centers around the world!

Why not explore the beautiful countryside and coastal scenery of the North Kent Coast plus some of the county's most ancient landmarks by hiring some bikes for just £24 at Kent Cycle Hire. Make a day of it with a return trip - or cycle one-way and drop off your bikes at any one of their three cycle hubs; Canterbury, Whitstable, Herne Bay. They even provide you with a map and directions to get you started on you way!
